Sprint's HTC EVO View 4G hands-on (video)

Well, if you were keeping abreast of the happenings at Mobile World Congress, then Sprint's EVO View 4G launched today at CTIA may seem pretty familiar to the HTC Flyer you saw there. These two HTC devices are essentially the same, with just a couple of minor cosmetic differences and some UI changes shown in the video that follows. We're still not completely sure about the Scribe pen, though it certainly is an entertaining thing to play with. The Evernote app makes great use of the stylus allowing images to be scribbled on and saved, notes recorded -- with voice and your text input -- and of course everything can be shared. We're not massive humans here at Engadget, and we're happy to report that the device can still stay planted fairly comfortably in hand. A standout amenity is the ability to drop apps from the lockscreen onto a small target, and have that app open immediately rather than having to go find it once you've unlocked the device. All this and more is just below the fold.

LG Thrill 4G and HTC HD7S are new phones for AT&T US

Keep in mind that in this case 4G refers to HSPA+ 21Mbps, not the real-deal LTE. Still we guess there will be many people willing to buy either.

The two smartphones are also getting new names. HTC HD7 gets an "S" to its name - HTC HD7S. And the LG Optimus 3D will be LG Thrill 4G. Pretty much nothing else is changed.

The HD7S has the same 4.3-inch LCD display, 5 megapixel snapper and Windows Phone 7 OS, as highlights.

The LG Thrill 4G has the same 4.3-inch stereoscopic display, dual-core 1GHz processor, Android 2.2 and dual 5-megapixel camera with 3D capturing capabilities both in stills and video. The LG features 1080p output regular video and 720p 3D video.

With the LG Thrill 4G AT&T will also debut the LG 3D Space, which will have 3D content, such as games, video and images.

It isn't quite sure whether the 3D Space will be a service only through AT&T or it will be available worldwide.
HTC's HD7S will be coming in the weeks to follow, while the LG Thrill 4G will be released by AT&T in the months to come. Exact dates aren't given though.

Samsung Galaxy S 4G review

Samsung Galaxy S 4G

It's only been six months since Samsung launched its highly successful Galaxy S assault upon the US market with a series of carrier customized phones: the Vibrant and Captivate GSM twins for T-Mobile and AT&T, the WiMAX-rocking Epic 4G for Sprint and the Fascinate for Verizon. More derivatives arrived later, with the Mesmerize, Continuum, Nexus S, and LTE-equipped Galaxy Indulge. Still the Vibrant was the first, and the closest in appearance to the original Galaxy S, losing the front-facing camera, but gaining a search button. Unfortunately, Samsung was slow to upgrade early devices like the Vibrant beyond Eclair, and to fix the well-documented AGPS problems. As such, the release of the Samsung Galaxy S 4G for T-Mobile -- basically an updated Vibrant with HSPA+, a front-facing camera, a bronze battery cover, Froyo out of the gate, but no dedicated internal flash storage -- is bittersweet. While beneficial to those who waited, it's a slap in the face to those who purchased the Vibrant. But is it a worthy upgrade? How does it fit into T-Mobile's high-end Android lineup? Read on for our full review after the break.
